[NASL REWIND: Week 3] Brian Shriver scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season to take over the lead in the NASL GoldenBoot race and fire the Carolina RailHawks to the top of the standings with a 3-0 win over the New York Cosmos, their, who suffered their first loss since joining the league for the fallcampaign.
“New York probably had the more shots and more possession, but we took our chances,” said RailHawks coach Colin Clarke. “For me, that was our biggest weakness in the spring and something we have worked on a great deal. New York is a very good team, with good players.”
— The Fort Lauderdale Strikers earned their first win under new coach Gunter Kronsteiner with a 2-1 winat San Antonio Scorpions, who have now dropped three in a row to start the fall season after finishing the spring campaign with five wins in a row.
