Ali Curtis, who has spent the last seven years with the MLS league office after a playing career that saw him win the 1999 Hermann Trophy and the 2000 MAC Awardat Duke, has been named the New York Red Bulls new sporting director. He replaces Scotsman Andy Roxburgh, who stepped down after two years with the club, andarrives at what is a critical offseason for the Eastern Conference runners-up.
Curtis will be responsible for all soccer activities at the club, including player acquisition andscouting, oversight of the coaching staff, technical staff and youth development as well as management of the soccer operations budget and salary cap.
