No easy task for multiple reasons. The big unknown is whether clubs will even release players who have been called up. FIFA rules don’t require clubs to release players for age-group competitions like Olympic men’s soccer. (A little-known law puts Spain at an advantage in men’s soccer. Spanish clubs are required to release Spanish players for the Olympics – but not foreign players, putting in jeopardy superstar Kylian Mbappe’s participation for host France after his anticipated move to Real Madrid goes through.)
