Good morning! In his weekly MLS column, SA’s Charles Boehm looks at the plight of the league’s last remaining winless teams, Austin FC, New England and Seattle. It raises the question, when does one hit the panic button in MLS? In 2023, nine MLS teams made coaching moves during the regular season, but none came before May. Sporting KC went winless in its first 10 games, Peter Vermes kept his job and he led Sporting to the playoffs. Both Brian Schmetzer (Seattle) and Caleb Porter (New England) have won MLS Cup twice in the last decade and should get plenty of slack, like Vermes did in Kansas City last season. On the other hand, Josh Wolff’s seat, Boehm writes, appears to be smoldering down in Austin well before the onset of Texas’ infamous summer heat.
