The second weekend of NWSL play since the USA won its third Women’s World Cup title begins Saturday with two games. The Chicago Red Stars have sold out their match against Boston, while the WashingtonSpirit had less than 300 tickets left for its match against Seattle.

The Red Stars feature four U.S. World Cup players — Julie Johnston, Christen Press,Lori Chalupny and Shannon Boxx — though their status for Saturday has not been determined. The Spirit will honor AliKreiger and Ashlyn Harris, though the Equalizer reported that neither will play.

Television Watch

FC Kansas Cityand Time Warner Cable Sports Channel announced an agreement to televise the team’s next four home NWSL games at Swope Soccer Village. The first game will take place on Monday when the Blues hostthe Houston Dash at 7:00 p.m. CT.

“We are very excited to have Time Warner Cable Sports Channel broadcast our next four games,” FC Kansas City director of soccer operationsHuw Williams said. “Their first-class production capabilities and reputation combined with the power of their coverage will only enhance our efforts toexpose our team to the Greater Kansas City community.”

FC Kansas City features four World Cup champions: AmyRodriguez, Lauren Holiday, Heather O’Reilly and Becky Sauerbrunn. It rescheduled its match against the Dash, which features Carli Lloyd, Meghan Klingenberg and Morgan Brian, so the teams could have their World Cup players available.

NWSL Player of the Year

NWSL Player of the Week Shea Groom, who scored the game-winning goal and added two assists in FC Kansas City’s 3-2 win over the Boston Breakers, will besidelined 4-6 weeks after she suffered a second metatarsal fracture of her right foot in a collision with Breakers goalkeeper Jami Kranich.
