Guillermo Ochoa is one of Mexico’s best-known players, but the 24-year-old goalie is not guaranteed to start in goal for Mexico at the World Cup.
Ochoa, who was in goal for the Tri’s 1-0 win over Angola on Thursday before 70,099 fans in Houston, is facing competition from veteran Oscar “El Conejo”Perez, a favorite of Coach Javier Aguirre, and Luis Ernesto Michel. Mexico has allowed only one goal in its sevengames this year.
Aguirre says nobody’s starting job is secure. He added that he was happy with the play of his three goalies but admitted that there will be pressure on the starter.”Millions of eyes are watching the Mexican team,” he said.
