In honor of Kansas City’s 15th MLS team, Sam Pierron, a Wizards season-ticket holder dating back to 1996 and well-known soccer activist, has been travelingto all the club’s away games this season and blogging about the trips on BigSoccer. His latest adventure: Salt Lake City, where he was joined by three Cauldronites, members of the Cauldron supportersgroup.

Here are a few of the things he liked: Red Iguana, a local Mexican chain restaurant, RSLexpress, an in-game concession service that allows fans to text food and beverage ordersand get served (for a service charge) at their seats during the game instead of having to wait in long lines at halftime, and the hospitality of the locals.

Pierron’s group ran into amembers of the RSL’s FCD supporters group and was invited to a house party that turned out to be a CD release party for a punk band. They drank, had some excellent barbecue — “two references to thesmoking of meats had us sold,” Pierron said — and, of course, talked soccer.
