The Saudis refused to travel to Ramallah for the game scheduled on Oct. 13. Palestinian officials claimed Saudi Arabia insisted on playing the Palestine home match on neutral territory forfear of appearing too close to Israel by going through its security. Blatter has been a big backer of Palestine and backed its case in face of opposition from the powerful Gulf soccer lobby.
