Tuesday’s Germany-Netherlands game in Hannover was called off and the HDI-Arena evacuated after police found what they thought was a device “intended to be set off inside the stadium.” Later in theevening, Germany’s interior minister, Thomas de Maiziere, confirmed that no explosives had been found at the stadium. “The indications of danger at today’s gamegrew over the course of the evening,” he said, “so much so that we urgently recommended the cancellation of the game.”
