The Manchester United winger, who missed the finalthrough injury, scored one and assisted three as Argentina’s front-line ran riot over Joachim Low’s makeshift defense, which was missing several World Cup stars either throughinjury or retirement.

In Madrid, Di Maria’s former home, AS described his performance as “stratospheric,”and it said his display had been due to anger at missing both the World Cup final and being shown the door by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
