[INTERNATIONAL SOCCER SUMMIT] Queens Park Rangers won the 2013 Capelli Sport/Newark Liberty International Soccer Summit with a 5-1 win over English rival Liverpoolin the final. U.S. teams PDA, St. Benedict’s Prep and FC Bolts Celtic finished 5-6-7 in the eight-team tournament held in Newark, N.J.

Final: Queens ParkRangers 5 Liverpool 1. QPR took a 2-0 lead on goals by Olamide Shodipo and Golden Boot winner Aaron Mitchell offa pair of giveaways by Liverpool’s defense in the first half. Sergi Canos scored just before the half to cut the deficit to 2-1, but QPR ended any suspense whenReece Grego-Cox and Mitchell connected early in the second half. Andreas Komodikis capped the second half explosion witha 77th-minute goal.

Third Place: FC Inter Milan 4 Maccabi Haifa 2. After blowing a two-goal lead, Inter Milan didn’t lose its composure and scoredtwice over the final 12 minutes to secure third. Matteo Colombini scored on a cross through the goal-mouth to snap a 2-2 standoff in the 78th minute beforeFederico Bonazzoli sealed the victory for the Nerazzurri with his second goal of the match. Bonazzoli gave Inter a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute, Samuel Appiah made it 2-0 in the 51st minute, but Maccabi responded through Amit Zenati and Or Eiloz (free kick from 30 yards).

Fifth Place: PDA 2 St. Benedict’s 1.
Jared Stroud and Brian White put PDA ahead in the first half, and it held on despite an 81st-minute goal by Jose Mederos to win the battle ofNew Jersey club and prep programs, partners in a new full-time residency program.

Seventh place: FC Bolts Celtic 3 Fuddercol 2. Harry Swartz scored a goal in the waning seconds, his second goal in as many games, to ease the Boston club past Fuddercol from Colombia. Steve DeLeo had lifted the Bolts into 2-2 tie with a goal earlier in the second half.
