A decision on whether to hold an emergency meeting of the FIFA executive committee will likely be made next week, given the suspensions to FIFA president SeppBlatter and UEFA president Michel Platini, who was the leading candidate to succeed him. A key item on the agenda would be to postpone the electionscheduled for Feb. 26. That would allow time for proposed electoral reforms to expand the pool of possible candidates. In light of the ongoing scandals, one of the demands has been for the election anoutsider who can conduct wide-sweeping reforms, but electoral rules all but assure that an insider wins the election.
