The New York Red Bulls understand that yet more change lies ahead now that designated player Thierry Henry has announced he is leaving the club after four-and-a-half seasons. As theAP points out, the Red Bulls are used to upheaval, having used a league-record 250 players since its first season in 1996.
“There’s a lot that’s going to happen this offseason, (more)than we could even speculate” goalkeeper Luis Robles said, noting the expansion draft, trades and the league’s collective bargaining negotiations with the players union.“I really feel there a lot of questions up in the air that may not have immediate answers.”
Added top scorer Bradley Wright-Phillips: “It’s a sad day. It’s asad day. I never fully accepted it until I heard it was going to be announced. It’s going to take some replacing. I don’t think you can replace the man.”
Midfielder DaxMcCarty: “We’ve all heard rumors. But obviously when you lose a guy like Thierry, things are going to change, because he was a big part of this team. And for the last four-and-a-halfyears he was one of the best players in the league.”
