[MLS: Friday] The New England Revolution announced that 19-year-old midfielder Diego Fagundez has been called into theUruguay under-20 team for matches Monday and Wednesday at Peru. Fagundez, who is a U.S. permanent resident but at least several years away from being eligible for U.S. citizenship, has leave afterSaturday’s game at New York.
This is the second time Fagundez has been called in by the Uruguay U-20 team. He spent a week in camp with the previous cycle of U-20s in October 2012.The current U-20 team will host the 2015 South America Youth Championship that will serve as qualifying for the 2015 U-20 World Cup in New Zealand and 2016 Olympics in Rio.
Fagundezhas made 78 appearances in New England, scoring 21 goals and adding 13 assists.
