Franck Ribery scored his 100th goal in 288 appearances for Bayern Munich as the reigning German champ beat fourth-place Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 at the Allianz Arena on Saturday. The formerFrance international also became the Frenchman with the most Bundesliga appearances, making his 186th appearance in Germany’s first division since joining the club from Marseille in 2007.
“Hats off to him,” Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said of the achievement, adding: “It was an important goal!” Added coach Pep Guardiola: “Franck has his place in the historyof this club, he’s one of the best non-German players in Bayern’s history.”
Ribery, 31, downplayed the importance of his personal achievement: “It’s good for me, but especially for theteam. I’m so happy!” he said. “We’re a good team and the mood is excellent. My teammates are superb, we’re always together and always want to win.”
The win ensured that unbeatenBayern maintained its seven-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga standings, as both second-place Wolfsburg and third-place Augsburg also recorded wins.
