Less than four months after being involved in an early-morning car crash in which three friends were killed, young midfielder Diego Buonanotte will suit upfor River Plate against Torneo Clausura leader Godoy on Saturday.
“I feel happy to play again and keep my head busy,” said Buonanotte, who suffered injuries to a shoulder andlungs in the crash. “Cappa asked me if I felt up to it. I’m keen so we agreed I should go to the bench.”
Buonanotte’s car crashed into a tree during a storm in his homeprovince of Santa Fe the day after Christmas. The three passengers, all friends, were killed. The return of Buonanotte, an Olympic gold-medalist in 2008, could not come sooner. River has lost its lastfive games, all by shutouts.
