Celta midfielder Luca de la Torre suffered a leg injury (grade 1 fibrillar tear in the biceps femoris) that will sideline him for around three weeks. The injury came less than two weeks before the U.S. World Cup team will be revealed. Celta coach Eduardo Coudet said “there won’t be any problem” with de la Torre recovering in time for the World Cup.
• First LaLiga season. De la Torre, 24, signed a four-year contract with Celta but has played just 54 minutes since arriving from Dutch club Heracles.
• USMNT role. In 2022, de la Torre has started four games during which the USA scored 13 goals.
