AS Roma’s players said they are full of confidence following their 5-1 hammering of CSKA Moscow in the teams’ UEFA Champions League Group E opener on Wednesday. Ivory Coast forwardGervinho, who scored twice, said the Italian club “made it look easy” against the Russian giant, “because we played a great game in both attack and defense.” The wincatapulted Roma to the top of Group E after Bayern Munich’s narrow 1-0 win against Manchester City.

Defender Douglas Maicon, who also scored, warned group favorites Bayern and City that they must deal with “a Roma that wants toprogress.” He added: “To win at the start in a complicated group like ours is important.”

Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis also echoed his teammates’ warning, saying: “Bayern Munich and Manchester Citywon’t be happy to play Roma.”
