Cristiano Ronaldo was named the world’s best player at FIFA’s new Best Football Awards gala in Zurich after it broke off from the Ballon d’Or.
The 31-year-old Real Madrid andPortugal star beat Barcelona’s Lionel Messi (who didn’t attend the ceremonies) and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann.
Ronaldo also won the Ballon d’Or in December.
