U.S. U-17 boys national team coach John Hackworth named a 20-player roster for the 2016 Torneo de Naciones in Mexico City, where the USA will face Portugal (Aug. 25), Qatar(Aug. 26) and Mexico (Aug. 28).
The 20 players were part of a 24-player squad that earlier this month trained in Utah, where the U-17s beat Utah Valley University, 4-3, and fell, 2-1, to USL teamRSL Monarchs
In May, the U.S. U-17s finished runner-up at the 2016 AIFF Youth Cup in India, which will host the 2017 U-17 World Cup for which Hackworth team’s aims to qualify.
