Russia is cutting back on the number of hotels the government originally planned to build ahead of the 2018 World Cup as the host country tries to reign in spending. After originally promising upto 100,000 rooms for visiting supporters, Russia has now axed plans for at least 25 hotels, saving the country close to $475 million, according to Reuters. A source close to the organizingcommittee offered the idea of using boats to provide temporary beds in host cities near rivers or the coast. The lack of sufficient hotels could force fans to travel several hundred miles toneighboring cities and towns in order to find accommodation.
