Diego Simeone‘s tactics have been criticized as the opposite of the free-flowing approach taken by his opposing coach, Pep Guardiola, in the Atletico Madrid-Bayern Munich ChampionsLeague series, but the Argentine said Atleti came close to its “best version” in its 1-0 win on Wednesday.
“We maybe came close to our best version of the team, like againstBarcelona,” he said after the game. “We imposed ourselves with the way we want to play, against such a high level team, too, with so many options — on the bench as well. The first halfwas closer to where we feel comfortable. In the second half they obviously were closer to where they feel more comfortable.”
