At the age of 23, Skyler Davis was named a co-captain for the 2015 season at the University of Vermont. Quite unusual for a player who had not played soccer forsix years. In the interim, he had been a member of the U.S. Nordic ski team. He doesn’t regret his decision to return to soccer and give up a bid to make the 2014 Olympic ski team, though the physicalwork was tough. “My knees were hurting, my shins were hurting,” says Davis, who sat out the 2014 college season. “Nordic skiing is completely different from any sport where there’s cutting and lateralmovement at all.”
