[MARYLAND WOMEN] Once again, Maryland has rolled through its non-conference schedule, extending its winning streak outside the ACC to 18 games with a 4-1 winover Delaware on Sunday.
With only a date against George Mason before they enter conference play, the No. 7 Terrapins are 7-0-0 for the season.
An exceptional junior classleads Maryland. U.S. U-20 Sade Ayinde scored twice, including the game-winner, against Delaware to give her five goals and five assists off the bench.
The key for the Terrapins will be to continue their improvement in the ACC, where they went 3-7-0 in 2008 but 4-4-2 last year. They are one of six ACC teams ranked in the top 15in this week’s Soccer America rankings.
It was Maryland’s bad luck to come up against North Carolina in both the ACC Tournament and NCAA Tournament.
The Tar Heels, the 2009ACC and NCAA champions, beat Maryland three times in November: 1-0, 3-0 and 1-0.
They host Maryland this season on Oct. 24.
