Members of a Tibetan women’s team were denied visas on to fly to Texas for the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup. The April event is a boys tournament, but the women had been invited as guests and were scheduledto lead a parade at the Cotton Bowl, former Dallas Cup executive director Gordon Jago said.

This is total BS!! There is no reason those visas should have been rejected.
Oh thank goodness Trump is keeping us safe by preventing a teenage girls soccer team coming into our country. Who knows what mayhem would’ve ensued had they come to Dallas.
Why is everything Trump’s fault? Did you do any research on this or just provide a typical knee jerk reaction? The team is not even officially part of the Tibetan Sports Authority, and the US still officially recognizes Tibet as part of China. This was not about security, but about defection. No policy changes here from the Obama administration, and Tibet not part of the countries included in the now-stayed executive order. From a common sense standpoint I agree it seems silly to not grant the visas, but the reason for denial has nothing to do with Trump.
Sorry Chris. I don’t see why refusing this promotes US foreign policy. International travelers need permission from both countries to cross a border, a passport to allow them to leave and a visa to allow them to enter.
They are probably able to Levitate….
“Why is everything Trump’s fault?” asks someone who likely spent the last eight years blaming Obama for everything.
Nope. Never uttered those words. Last 8 have been pretty good in my view.
Let the tebetain women’s team in to watch a boys/men’s tournament. It makes perfect sense.maybe they are tired of all those tebetain monks.
Nick: It is good to see you posting here.
I can get caught up in political discussion even though I don’t want to do it. I never talk politics with friends and family. I never do it with soccer people either. Yet I find myself doing it on sites.I am going to Jersey tomorrow to celebrate my Grand Daughters Sophia’s third birthday. The adults eat upstairs the kids eat down stairs. I am going to eat with the kids. There more fun to be around them my kids.My son’s wife is Russian. Her mother and her friends are Russian. I think when your all at a table you don’t speak Russian when some people at the table don’t speak Russian when they all speak English I think that is rude. The food they make is all Russian. Now I don’t dislike Russian food. But that is all they cook their. My son is not Russian. He is aitalian and he loves good Italian food. His wife does not make it for him.So I told his wife before I went their last time. To make sure they have it or I will eat before I get there and not eat at her house.Haha it’s fun to go see barbarians from time to time.
Is English your first language? It doesn’t sound like it is so maybe you should be a little more considerate of other cultures.
Nick, good story. Talk about culinary taste. I was in England last summer and England didn’t change my mind about their much maligned cuisine…
My daughter who lives in Germany likes to correct my English. She graduated from an Ivy League school here with honors. But I was the one who paid the 200 thousand for her education. Education helps but it is not everything.I notice a lot of people in soccer today are teachers. But the real soccer people I know are not.
Have you ever had Italian food in Germany :)I might buy their lasagna I remove their sauce. I go to a Turkish restraunt and get their thick tomato soup and put that on it. It becomes something you can actually eat when you can’t get the real thing.
So it’s not your first language? Just trying to understand the numerous basic grammatical errors. If it’s not your first language, that’s totally understandable.
NICK, I remember eating a hamburger in Dusseldorf , it went through me in 5min. That is how greasy they were. I spend the rest of the time eating spaghetti. You can’t go wrong with that. I remember in Holland when I was young, one ate spaghetti with ketchup on it. . I had ordered a pizza, one time, with a slab of bologna on it..I’m sure it is better now. But don’t bother eating in Europe. The Americans have the best pizza. I do like my french fries when in Holland, they are so much better here. I grew up eating fries with mayonnaise..
Nick, that is the problem. So many coaches are teachers which is not good. They are too pedantic, dogmatic and they like to follow a program. Why do you think these kids play so programmed here,DUH. The coaching School likewise attract the teaching types. Now you can understand why the Ajax youth system which was world famous at one time went down hill because in the early 90’s two people Van Gaal, and Co Adriaanse both teachers screwed up. This is why Cruyff began his revolution at Ajax about 5years ago to change all that in how the youth develop.
If they still love soccer and teaching, teachers who are former college soccer players make ideal youth coaches. In every field there are good and bad professionals. Well bad pilots don’t last long. Remember the punch line: …But there are no old, bold pilots!
Bob , I’m talking in general terms as far as teachers go. And being a former college player is no guarantee either. As a matter of fact I’ve been around enough college players who have attained coaching license and spew the typical coaching jargon that is so reflective of the coaching school. I can tell from a distance watching a team during practice just by the coache’s expression and how he conducts himself if he’s been to the coaching school. it is so programmed. I’m not saying not to get a license, for if you want one then go for it. I prefer not to be influenced by all programmed or standardization of soccer. Just go out on the soccer field every weekend and you’ll see everybody does the same pre-game warm up exercises. At one time all teams did “cool down” run after the game, next time it is stretches ,then they’ll come with something else. Some coach should pull a stunt, for example, If his team at the world cup, makes the players sit on the bench and stick their head in a cold bucket of water before warming up,and end they also end up winning the world cup. And as a joke coach states that sticking your head in a cold bucket of water has worked wonders for his players. What is going to happen is the following season many teams will do the same and of course the college teams will follow the “TREND” of cold buckets of water for their players and of course the Coaching School will definitely insist to their coaches to employ this technique. And likewise High schools will also follow. This cold water technique will stay popular for about 5years or so until another cute ‘TREND’ is introduced..
I like window shopping in Holland:)
Frank, you have changed the way I watch matches. Instead of looking for good play, I now count the errors. Not sure it is a better way but it certainly changes my opinion of the play. On the coaching, what I am seeing today is vastly improved from what I saw when coaching U-Littles in the mid-90s. Ninety percent of the coaches I saw back then did more harm than good. Very few of the other 10% would I call good coaches. Most of the 90% weren’t even coaching soccer, just yelling instructions at kids instead of teaching them how to play. While I am pleased with the progress, I won’t be satisfied until every U-Little has the opportunity to learn the fundamentals.
To me Germany is like the US was in the 1980s. It’s like going back in time. I am and old man. But the German old men I hate to be around them. When my daughter married a German His name is Jan. I thought he was a great guy very smart. One of the few guys she went out with I actually like. They had a boy Henry actually his name is Hindrich. Of all my grandchildren he is the one most like me. He is 7 now can speak both English and German fluently. He could climb up stairs before he could walk. He never fell I can see him climbing mountains with his father. His father is also a mountaineer has lived mountains all over the world.I have an apartment in Berlin it was a factory. They turned it into apartments. Best thing about it. It has an elevator none of the other buildings has an elevator and go down stairs it on the canal. In the summer the boats are fun. They have floating restraunt, night clubs and the tour boats. I am there in the warm weather to see my Henry. The poor Turkish heat their apartments with dirty coal. Like we used in the depression the real one.I saw West side story the play in Germany. I could not stop laughing hearing it in German. Laugh out loud funny.
Bob, Sorry i’ve made you watch the game in a more negative way, but it is better for you. Cruyff stated that the is game is won by the team that makes the least mistakes.Seeing only the good plays and being satisfied on that basis does nothing in improving your team, but only getting rid of the mistakes, for these same mistakes can revisit you in another game for a loss. Furthermore, the Dutch see everything as half empty. There was a game Van Basten scored two nice goals and the first question the press asked was about were about the 3 bad passes he made. There is a reason why this dinky little country has produced so many great players and great soccer ,coming close to pure soccer like Beckenbauer once stated. And that is because how the Dutch look at the game. So, yes , the Dutch look at the game for mistakes ,the negative, in order to improve which is positive. By looking at the positive ,the nice plays only, does not help in improving the level of play. You don’t grow through lack of adversity but dealing with adversity. In Holland we judge a defender not just by how well he plays defense but what he can do with the ball. For what good is it for a defender to be able to stop a man with the ball and than loses the ball or makes a bad pass going forwards. This is what we call in Holland “the initial pass out of the back field from the defender and how well does he execute, is he able to pass the ball to the correct foot of the midfielder, in a manner that does not slow the tempo of the attack, and is the defender able to build up the attack from the back and able to find the free man forwards. When looking at all these aspects, and see what can go wrong is not negative but just good analyzing of the dynamics at play. Your doing well Bob, you have the right ideas and philosophy. I wish more coaches were like you. I agree that we have better coaches or perhaps better understanding of the game, than years.
Nick, every summer I go and visit Holland and bike. I love it there for it nice and flat and you have bike lanes. I try to bike in the areas where I grew up as kid around Amsterdam , Haarlem,Zandvoort,Hilversum etc. I wear my flip flops, no helmet and enjoy the scenery from town to town. Stop eat some fries or a mackerel sandwich and continue. Each day we drive to certain city, park the car get the bikes off the car and go . I was in England last year and I found London cute for a few days but I missed the bike lanes going from town to town which in England are much further apart and no bike lanes. We spend everyday about 3hours biking in Holland The only time I will go back to England is to go from Holland for a couple of days and perhaps visit Stonehenge or Edinburg or some historical sight. I would like to drive in England but I”m not sure if I feel comfortable driving on the left side. I woke up when someone told me when you come to a round about in England that you go clockwise. I thought you go counterclockwise but stay in far left lane…I knew than that I wasn’t going to be driving in England. Or can you imagine going through the Chunnel in Calais to England and when you come out of the tunnel you drive on the lefts side…..that is a total mind flip
