The NASL’s Indy Eleven won’t renew Tim Hankinson’s contract as head coach for the 2018 season.

Hankinson, one of the most-traveled American coaches, led Indy Eleven to the2016 NASL spring championship, in his second season with the club. He previously coached the NASL San Antonio Scorpions in 2012-13.

Hankinson, 62, made a name for himself at Alabama A&M in the early 1980s. He later worked at teams in MLS (Tampa Bay andColorado) and for the league office in its infancy and coached teams in the old USISL. He also coached teams in Iceland, India and Jamaica.

Hankinson’s departure leaves only two confirmedhead coaches for the 2018 NASL season: Gio Savarese at the New York Cosmos and Mark Lowry at the Jacksonville Armada.

Marco Velez finished the season as interim coachat Puerto Rico FC. Alessandro Nesta recently stepped down as head coach at spring and fall champion Miami FC.
