The weekend ahead features several games that will be of interest for American fans as the races are taking shape for promotion, relegation, league titles and European places. Of course, these players will also have the U.S. national team in mind as players look to earn places on the team and to start games this summer.
Here are the top five games to follow in the coming days.
Leeds United vs. Arsenal (Premier League 🏴)
• Brenden Aaronson
Saturday, January 31, 10:00 am ET 📺 USA, Universo
Brenden Aaronson is one of the most improved American players of the 2025-26 European season. The difference between his performances two years ago when Leeds was relegated out of the Premier League to his performances this season is night and day.
Leeds is six points clear of the relegation zone and has lost just one of its last 10 Premier League games. Through that run, Aaronson has been one of the best players for Leeds.
In fact, star Leeds forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin spoke this week to the Yorkshire Evening Post about how much Aaronson has improved as a player in the Premier League.
“He’s been excellent,” Calvert-Lewin told the YEP. “And more importantly, you know, what a top guy. I was so thrilled for him [scoring against Manchester United and Newcastle] maybe because I can relate, I don’t know. I can relate to what he’s going through and what he’s been through. And it’s like I’ve touched on before, the only way you can change that is by performances on the football pitch.
“You can think what you want as a person, as a player, but people form their opinions, and it’s not about proving people right or wrong, but what you can do on a football pitch, but you need evidence. And Brenden’s form recently is the evidence that he needed, and everyone needed to see, to show that he belongs and he deserves to play.”
Coming into this season, Leeds supporters were questioning Aaronson having a big role on the team. These days, Aaronson is now very popular and has been earning applause from supporters during games.
This weekend will be the biggest test for Aaronson as Leeds will host Premier League leader Arsenal, which also could be in contention to win the Champions League. Leeds has never won a Premier League home game against the Gunners. Arsenal has won its last six league games against Leeds by a combined score of 20-5.
For the national team, Aaronson was struggling to make rosters just last year. Now he looks like a potential starter.
