Nigerian women’s national team coach Eucharia Uche, who said she used religion in an attempt to rid the Super Falcons of lesbian behavior, is out followingthe Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2012 Olympic women’s soccer tournament.

Uche, who called homosexuality “spiritually, morally verywrong,” had led Nigeria to the 2010 African women’s title, but it failed to advance past the first round at the 2011 Women’s World Cup. It lost on penalties to Cameroon in Olympic qualifying onSunday.

“Eucharia Uche’s case is not a matter of being sacked,” a top official of the Nigeria Football Federation said. “She’s out of contract and having failed to leadthe Super Falcons to the Olympics, the NFF won’t be renewing her deal at the moment.”

Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2012 London Games marked the first time it failed toqualify for the Women’s World Cup or Olympics.
