Boston: There’s a deal in principle between Boston 26, the host city organizing committee, and the U.S. Soccer Foundation to build up to 20 new mini-pitches in New England leading up to the 2026 World Cup. Funds for the project will come from Boston 26 supporters and donors whom organizers have also turned to for funding necessary to help organize the seven matches awarded to Boston and events during a 39-day window across the region. A foundation that has previously supported the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s mini-pitch program will match funding anonymously for the 20 new mini-pitches.
