Mirelle van Rijbroek has been U.S. Soccer’s Director of Talent Identification-Girls since November 2017. She arrived from her native Netherlands, where she served as the Managerof Talent Development and Elite Performance for the Dutch federation (KNVB). In 2014, the Netherlands won its first Women’s U-19 European Championship title while Van Rijbroek served as KNVBYouth Technical Director and the team’s assistant coach. Seven players from the squad are on the Dutch team at this summer’s Women’s World Cup, including Oranje’s all-time leadingscorer Vivianne Miedema. We spoke to Van Rijbroek about her role as head of the U.S. Soccer scouting department for U-14 through U-20 girls and women’s national teams, Americancollege soccer, and Development Academy vs. ECNL.
