[YOUTH] U.S. U-17 boys national team coach Wilmer Cabrera took 20 players to Manchester, England, for an 11-day trainingcamp that will include matches against youth teams from Manchester City, Blackburn and the Scotland U-17 national team.

Five players are in their first semester at the U-17 residencyprogram in Bradenton, Fla.

The match against Scotland on Nov. 10 will conclude the trip.

BEING FROM NEW YORK WHERE WILMER WORKED WITH A CLUB CALLED THE MASSAPEQUA ACES JUST A FEW YEARS BACK YOU COULD SEE THE LATIN PLAYERS WOULD BE GIVEN EVERY CHANCE AND THEN SOME TO MAKE THE RESIDENCY CAMP THE PLAYERS ARE DEFINITELY DESERVING HAVING THE COLOMBIAN BACKGROUND AS HE DOES IM SURE HE WANTS TO GIVE THOSE BOYS A GOOD LONG LOOK AND THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT WHEN IT COMES TO DEAD HEATS ON AMERICAN VERSUS LATIN PLAYERS FROM WHAT I KNOW HE IS A STRICT MAN THAT TRIES TO PRESENT A BALANCE PLAYING FIELD FOR THE HAVE AND LESS FORTUNATE PLAYERS I HOPE THE BOYS AND WILMER ARE SUCESSFUL AS A BUNCH OF THE JUST RECENTLY PLAYERS THAT MOVED ON ARE STARTING NICE COLLEGE CAREERS JUST ONE MANS OPINON BUT I THINK IM SPOT ON

  5. James: Watching the US team in the last U-17 WC which was coached by Wilmer himself, I can assure you that the Latin influence is there to stay. It was the best Latin style, a US team had ever played. Something to make Paul Gardner proud.
