There are a bunch of reasons to believe the Victory Tour should have been shut down a couple of months ago, but the show did go on after Alohagate and have one beneficial effect. Lindsey Horan,the 21-year-old who skipped college to play at Paris St. Germain, made her debut in central midfield alongside stars Morgan Brian and Carli Lloyd and contributed one goal — her firstinternational goal — and two assists in a 6-0 win over hapless Trinidad & Tobago.
Horan is not new to the U.S. women’s national team. And she is not new to the nationalteam program. But she is headed back to the United States after three-plus seasons at PSG with the hope of making next year’s Olympic team. Thursday’s performance certainly demonstrated that she’ll bein the picture for one of the 18 spots (down from 23 for the Women’s World Cup).
