The USA went from hardly playing in the first half to playing awfully in the second as it fell, 3-0, to Ukraine. Having won their first two games,the Americans had already clinched passage into the knockout stage, but they now advance as a second-place team — a tie would have won the group — and will face the second-place Group C team –Colombia, Portugal or Senegal — in the round of 16 on Wednesday.
