Chile is next up for the USA after its 4-1 win over Peru in Orlando in St. Louis on Tuesday. Like Peru, Chile is mired in a slump.

The Chileans finished dead last in South America’s 18-game qualifying competition to miss its third straight World Cup, a streak one worse than Peru. On Saturday in Toronto, Chile fell, 1-0, to Canada, which benefited from red cards to Chile’s LaLiga players Lucas Cepeda (35th minute) and captain Gabriel Suazo (50th).

La Roja has gotten five red cards in nine games under Coach Nicolás Córdova.
