Louis van Gaal, who won the Champions League with Ajax and league titles at Ajax, Barcelona and AZ and an FA Cup title at Manchester United, says he has retired from coaching after a 26-yearcareer. Van Gaal, 65, was fired United hours after winning the FA Cup in May 2016.
Van Gaal made the announcement on Monday after receiving a lifetime achievement award from the Dutchgovernment for his contribution to soccer. He cited the sudden death of his son-in-law as a reason for his decision.
