Great kick – but that was stoppable. Watch Guzan misjudge the ball (again). He was even covering the corner. Don’t want to take away from Messi amazing kick – but a better keeper would have stopped that ball.
Great kick, but I agree. It was saveable.Shouldn’t he have been reaching with his top hand?
A US player said he was not afraid of Messi so that means don’t mark him? You could call that a mistake. We could call the other two goals as mistakes as well.Keeper was on his line on the glider to Messi? I wonder if the German keeper could have punched it away?
Guzan’s first step was in the opposite direction … & he paid for it a bit … but why that first step? respect for Messi’s ability to curl ball into the corner behind the wall … Messi messed with his head … lesson: trust your positioning & let your athletic ability & reactions rule … BTW: IT WAS A TERRIFIC SHOT!! … his indecision on the 1st goal was a blunder, as was team’s failure to handle the moment … must track runners when a negative ball is played to unpressured player, especially where Messi is involved … & exactly why is Messi left alone during any restart?
