A penalty kick by Ashley Hatch in the 10th minute of stoppage time gave the Spirit a 4-3 victory over the San Diego Wave, snapping a streak that had reached 18 games in all competitions. Veteran Amber Brooks scored twice to give the Spirit a 3-1 lead, but the defending champions’ winless streak was in a danger of being extended when the Wave’s Alex Morgan scored twice to extend her league lead with her 14th and 15th goals of the season.
