Chelsea, which lost the first leg at home, 3-1, stormed out to a 3-0 lead on goals by Mason Mount (15th minute) Antonio Rüdiger (51st) and Timo Werner (75th), but Rodrygo‘s 80th minute goal tied the series 4-4 on aggregate to force overtime. Karim Benzema‘s 96th minute header sent Real Madrid into a semifinal against Manchester City or Atletico Madrid, which hosts their second leg on Wednesday after falling, 1-0, in Manchester. (American Christian Pulisic came on as a 83rd minute sub for Werner).
