1. Sacramento Republic FC named Mark Briggs as its head coach for the 2020 USL Championship season. Briggs, who was hired on a two-yearagreement, was the 2017 USL Coach of the Year with the Real Monarchs but resigned in 2018 after facing domestic violence charges that were later dropped. He then joined Republic FC’s academy programas an adviser and was later promoted to director. Three Republic FC academy products moved to German pro clubs this summer. Briggs replaces Simon Elliott, whose contract was not renewed after twoseasons as head coach.
