Arsenal’s success was built in large part on its scouting network’s ability to find the top talent in France, where its manager, Arsene Wenger, hails, but he admitted Leicester City starRiyad Mahrez, who has scored 14 goals and 10 assists in 24 league games, slipped through the cracks.
The Algerian was playing last season with Le Havre in France”s seconddivision.
“The amazing thing about Mahrez is that he not only creates a lot of chances, but also scores plenty of goals,” Wenger said ahead of Sunday’s Arsenal-Leicester match. “I didn’tknow him when he was playing in Ligue 2, but now he is one of the dominating players in the Premier League, so they have done very well to scout him.”
