Arsenal begins another Champions League full of confidence, though the record suggests otherwise. The Gunners have never won Europe’s biggest title and hasn’t made it past the last 16 since 2010.

Still, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes his squad is mature enough to win the elusive Champions League trophy.

“This is my strongest squad, certainly,” he said onthe eve of the opener against Paris St. Germain, “and certainly the oldest as well. I would say it’s the most mature squad I’ve had for a long time, because they are men. They are not 19 or 20 yearsold, they are 24, 27, 28 and the whole squad is quite mature.”
