“Our biggest issue is not with the national teams or senior national team or with MLS, it is with youth development. That’s where the problem is. I was at the Euros. And some of those squads, France, England, Spain, Netherlands, I am looking at those squads and I couldn’t help but think, how many players from our squad would get into those squads and make that roster at the Euros? And if I was being completely honest, there’s not a ton. The challenge is, are we developing enough players of that quality so we have super, super highly difficult decisions to make on the roster because we have so many good players? All those squads left really good players at home, really good players, and we don’t have that ‘problem’ yet.”
