“In the first two friendlies we played, obviously the results weren’t great—we lost both games. He could have blamed us because we were the ones playing, but he took ownership and took it on himself with the media and everything. That showed me he really cares about us. It’s not easy for someone who’s not playing to take the blame to protect us in a way, so I think that was a huge gesture we all noticed: he wants us to be positive and have good vibes in camp, and that’s what he did.”
