Belgium coach Marc Wilmots has said that his team will not underestimate the USA when the two teams meet in the round of 16 on Tuesday. Belgium progressed from Group H with maximum points,but the Red Devils labored to beat the likes of Algeria, Russia and South Korea by a single goal each. Jurgen Klinsmann’s USA, meanwhile, finished second in a group featuring Europeanpowerhouses Germany and Portugal and African giant Ghana.
“The USA came out of a very tough group. All the teams that made it to the last 16 deserve to be there,” Wilmots said.“For me, it’ll be 50-50, even if people will make us the favorites. The climate will be OK, although it could be a bit humid.”
When asked about the criticism his team has received forits narrow wins, Wilmots replied: “To play the best football… what does that mean? In the Brazil-Croatia game, I didn’t find that Brazil played great football. What matters is to win and to getthrough. There are different systems and styles.” He added: “We’re at a World Cup, and you pay dearly for the smallest error. We’re not here to look at other teams. We showed that we have23 players and that we could trouble a lot of teams.”
