[MARYLAND-MICHIGAN MEN] Brazilian freshman Fabio Pereira‘s golden goal gave Michigan a 3-2 win at No. 2 seed Marylandand a berth in the Men’s College Cup for the first time.

Jeffrey Quijano and Justin Meram scored 10 minutesapart in the second half to put the Wolverines ahead but Jason Herrick‘s goal in the 79th minute tied the game for the Terrapins.

Michigan’squalification for the Men’s College Cup comes only 10 years after the program was launched.

“Amazing,” said Michigan coach Steve Burns. “Absolutelyamazing. This was no easy feat for us today to come into Maryland and beat a team of their pedigree on their home field with a bid to the College Cup on the line and to have to come back from a goaldown at the half. When you factor all of that together, I think you see we have a pretty special group of men. I couldn’t be more proud of them and happy for Michigan.”
