Four months after announcing they had canceled the 2012 season but hoped to return in 2013, Women’s Professional Soccer’s owners called it quits on Friday.

“We sincerely regret havingto take this course of action,” said Atlanta Beat owner T. Fitz Johnson,  who was the WPS chairman.

A lingering dispute between DanBorislow, owner of magicJack, and the league’s other owners contributed to the decision to suspend operations in January.

The case continued in a Florida court, but WPS andBorislow announced Friday all remaining issues had been settled out of court.
