[HEXAGONAL: Day 1] So much for Mexico coach Chepo de la Torre's goal of going 10-0-0 in the Hexagonal. Starting three Englishmen making their international debuts, Jamaica pulled a huge upset in holding Mexico to a 0-0 tie in a game the Reggae Boyz could have won with a little luck. Costa Rica came back from two goals down to tie Panama, 2-2, in Panama City. The results earned away points for two of its rivals and completed a miserable day for the USA in the Hexagonal.

Hexagonal Standings:
PTS TEAM W-T-L
3 Honduras 1-0-0
1 Costa Rica 0-1-0
1 Panama 0-1-0
1 Jamaica 0-1-0
1 Mexico 0-1-0
0 USA 0-0-1

Mexico had won all 12 competitive games under de la Torre -- six games at the 2011 Gold Cup and six games in the semifinal round of qualifying -- but could do nothing right against Jamaica.

''I don't know if this is our worst game, but it's the one that leaves me more upset, because it was a World Cup qualifier at home,'' said de la Torre. ''Sometimes you win ugly, but today we did not do even that."

Azteca Stadium was more than half-empty, and the 40,000 fans who showed up jeered the Tri off the field.

Jobi McAnuff, one of four English-born players had never played for Jamaica before Wednesday, set the tone with a shot off the post in the second minute.

Ryan Johnson, one of three MLS players in the Jamaica starting lineup, had a chance to put the Reggae Boyz ahead but he put his breakaway attempt straight at Mexico keeper Jesus Corona.

Portland Timbers keeper Donovan Ricketts, who had been recalled for the Hexagonal, earned the shutout for Jamaica.

PANAMA-COSTA RICA. Real Salt Lake's Alvaro Saborio scored one goal and set up Bryan Ruiz for the tying goal on a scissor kick in the 84th minute to give Costa Rica a share of the points.

Panama looked to run away with the game thanks to goals by Luis Henriquez and Roman Torres in the first 26 minutes, but Saborio reduced the deficit six minutes before the end of the half.

Away points for some rivals is fine. Ties mean only two points gained instead of three. Having teams get points against Mexico is the problem. We want Mexico to beat everyone except us. We aren't competing for the 1st spot.

wow the concacaf is getting better, to all the USA needs to improve people , Mexico is ten years away from us , what happened ? Honduras has improved, Olympic team almost beat Brazil... i cannot give any excuses to USA ( jet lag , chemistry, time, weather) but at least it was a away game , must hurt a bit to Mexican fans that it was at home game too. So Luis i would like to hear your feed back ? not one hour past and you where all over the USA and how we lost and that the "historic win " against Mexico was nothing . I would love to hear it .

Mexico dropping any home points changes a lot. If we beat Jamaica home and away, we gain a leg up on Mexico. You only want Mexico 'to beat everyone except us' if you accept Mexico is the top seed and cannot be topped. I don't. I rate Mexico as No.1 seed but that is before the games are played. They still have to show it. But now, they've only shown that they must win away at Jamaica and now Mexico also must get 4 pts from Honduras. If they don't, Mexico created problems for themselves whereas the US MNT road result was more likely against the #3 seed, in my opinion, in the region.

Mexico dominated posessikn but could not get it going in final 3rd. Jamaica bunkered and countered well. You know like Chelsea. No excuses for Mexico but with their style they will win many more games than lose. With USA. Style same could not be said. What else do you want to hear? Do you want to hear that Jamaica is a better team than Mexici? Or that Honduras is not as good as USA.?

Ben, if you imply that USA is #2 then it must beat Honduras by 2 goals at home to earn that rank. Costa Rica is more deserving as they beat Honduras justa few weeks ago. Mexico will have to win in Jamaica but it depends largely on how other teams do vs them as well. Nonetheless, Mexico has eyes set on bigger fish but can't get too confident.

Mexico is a very average team, which Jamaica, adding a few English players, just proved. It's not like Mexico had any more real chances than Jamaica.

sounds like the bigger fish is the USA!!!Luis, and they are not even close to Barcelona to that analogy you just implied Luis.

If Mexico is average then your defenition of good must be narrow. Mexico is top 10-15 in the world. I would say that's better then average. Usabis defenitely average. Mexico will be top 10 for years to come with the highest success at the younger ages. If that specific Chelsea team could bunker and beat Barcelona then it is not unbaleivable that Jamaica did the same to Mexico. Mexico did in fact have more chances.

Luis i have to see it to believe it , it tied Denmark, tied Jamaica looks like the Mayans where right about the end , the end of Mexico's winning streak. Lets see what goes on 2013 and the hex . To me u sound like those bitter Facebook fans from Mexico who cant go and talk good about the USA only just how much they suck , you are very clever in the ways you word it but i see that you prefer Mexico more than the USA, and its OK , but when the USA success does come we don't need band wagoners if you know what i mean. USA USA USA no matter what win or loose .

Batman, Denmark is a good example. Denmark played their up and coming team. Their forward is the next star for Denmark and I beleive he is already getting the callup to Top team. Their coach said they are very exited of denmark's future. That said they were another team to bunker back on Mexico who did not have their A team out there. Canada lost 4-0 to this same Denmark team a few days earlier. USA tied Canada who are both average. Mexico, Denmark above average with their respective B teams. Mayan's were as correct as the Hopi Indians abouth the same thing BATBOY. I was born in the USA and demand they quit the mediocrity and scout, develop, and play the very best without hidden agendas and politics. I also go for Mexico, as this is the country are from and there is nothing wrong with that, no matter how many idiots want to make that seem like a bad thing. Those are the same idiots that say nothing of Klins leaning so hard on his German side. It is not that I prefer Mexico, it is just that i am realistic and not bias enough to see how well Mexico is doing with development with proven results at all ages. They are up and coming. When there is something good to say about USA I will be the first to say it. Most people notice our system is failed but just keep rolling along with the punches. Batman, the same people that hate it when a Hispanic says something good about Mexico are the same ones that have no problem with having a German coach playing 4-5 german born Americans and with people saying " Klins is going to make us better because he is German and Germany is such an advanced soccer nation that is showing great developmet". Mexico is as good or better as of late development wise but with immigratiopn laws targeting Hispanics and Republicans using it as a way to get voted through the media, there is no way most will aknowledge such a thing. There is nothing bad being said of Germans so it's ok for a German influence in our soccer program. But now that Republicans are aware of the importance of the Hispanic vote this sentiment will slowly but surely change and it will improve our soccer program. USA USA, ok, but it does matter if we are losing to poor 3rd world countries with the population of Connecticut. We have 24 million soccer players in USA and the most of any country by far in the world. Panama has 3.5 million TOTAL POPULATION and 200,000 soccer players. It shouldnt be " no matter win or lose" when facing these teams. It is unacceptable for USA Basketball to lose to anybody in the world. Why cant we hold our soccer team accountable the same way or at least at a lower level like in Concacaf??

i guess you aw a different game Luis what i saw was an all mls team against Canada ? The fan knew they should have done something against Denmark but what happened, oh yeah they had a couple of starters by the way , anyways the "all mighty Mexico " cannot be judged (that's sarcasm if you don't get it ),anyways and about being bias we won in Mexico ,aztecaso i believe ? now that was historic , any praise any congrats? nope all you said it was a Mexican American who did it , to me it sounded like you did not count that win because it was a "Mexican American " who scored, and everything you post is what i read and see that if there was a game between the USA vs Mexico you will go for the tri color and me well guess ?USA WIN OR LOOSE !!!! now some quotes that you posted about Italy historic win "Italy did not look good at all. Good win for USA. Nice goal. Terrible defense on it by Italy" kinda forced , kinda weak praise , oh yeah the Mexico game "David, it's more a lucky punch with you're eyes closed while ducking the entire fight than a conquering moment. This is the only way USA has a chance vs quality teams like Mexico or Brazil. Just like Chelsea did vs Barca or just like Mourinho vs same team. 9 out of 10 though, Barca beats both of these with Real madrid giving them a harder time because they are starting to play a little more . Klins has tried to play soccer but understands he needs results. It's a shame, really, in the long run. Ugly game. The luckiest team won this one. No doubt" this is what you said !! the USA holds the #2 spot for you and i remember the Spain vs Mexico game i guess the Barcelona team did a number on Mexico because the did a Chelsea on Spain trick remember? oh yeah i do not care about political views stick to the subject soccer !!! Also Luis remember the USA officially started playing soccer competitively for maybe 16- 20 years and we have gone a long way and Mexico only has soccer and they are barely getting good , what is wrong with that picture ? i love soccer , i love football, i love basketball, i love hockey and baseball, that's how great our country is we are #1 in almost everything and soccer will catch up we are new at this but we are not doing that bad of a job , i love my Hispanic heritage but when Mexico plays against the USA Los Estados unidos Hasta el Final . USA all the way!!!! i am proud we have done so much in oo little time.

Batman, good to see you keep after several f my posts. USA has only played soccer for 15 years? No, they have played for much longer but maybe recognized for 15 years. Just like the recognition of black people being better or as good at basketball. How pong did that take? So 24 million people playing soccer in USA(the most in the world) is just a huge coincidence? That just all if a sudden wanted to play soccer huh? We are great at everything excerpts at the one sport we have the most proven numbers as the most in the world playing it? Coups it not be that most other countries don't care of other sports unless its soccer?

i don't want to talk about what race does what or discrimination against who, i don't care about politics or any other thing you want to bring into topic it is irrelevant to what we are talking about USA is just waking up a a soccer nation , how long does other countries have awake ? now what i am trying to find out i are you USA all the way ? when we play Mexico who are you rooting for ? most of the stuff you post sometimes doe not make sense, so black people are faster? jump higher? or Hispanics all lazy ? or do white people all racist? i mean how does all this doe not apply to soccer. reparations? idk what your are talking about but OK i went on a rant and i got sidetrack like you do , let keep to the subject so Luis USA vs Mexico honestly who would you go for ,who do you want to win? if you can answer that and not talk about anything else i will know you position that simple.

Batman, is full of generations and generations of soccer loving people. You wish to believe we "all of a sudden" have 24 million, the most of any country in the world, people playing soccer. That doesn't make sense. Which sport do you know that has grown that quickly? The fact that the MLS is not as watched as the NFL, NBA, NHL is not to be mistaken with not having soccer loving people. They watch Epl, MX, La Liga, Bundesliga. There is a reason ESPN picked up all Mexico games and not Usasoccer. I go for both, USA and Mexico. This is not a popular thing to say but I don't care. I am a fan of soccer most of all. When they both play each I go for the more technical team. When USA gets its act together and Scouts and develops the best young talent without involving politics, I will root for them harder. Mexico is showing great improvement in every aspect and no other country has had their overall results in the last 2 years. They still find the time and see great stock in scouting USA players. Unacceptable for a country of our infrastructure, technology, power.

well i guess you know what race i am right i am Hispanic born in these great United States of America ,so about the generations yes background is full of them and it not a popular thing to say i go for the USA and not Mexico i get scolded by family friend but i don't care i love the USMNT i don't turn my back on the jut because we lot a couple of games or they are not playing beautiful in you concept, i know see who you really go for and by any means i jut read your post i go for both but when they play i go for the most technical ? really ? oh well i heard a saying a house divided will fall , you will understand this one day but right now you don't there cannot be two #1 in book there will always be one lesser than the other one and you chose Mexico with what you said but i guess you can play both cards cant you Luis? i have friends that have Irish heritage ,British, German but they go for the usmnt even thou those teams won world cups so don't tell me you go for both clearly you have a favorite #1 and there i nothing wrong with that but hey don't come here lying to people telling them your a USA supporter, you are a Mexico supporter and that's it one question Luis if the USMNT went to the world cup final with Mexico who do you want to win ? they cant tie they cant compromise someone is going to be world champion think about it Luis and don't come her talking bad about the USMNT or MLS and if you heard most of these leagues are going bankrupt , oh and by the way have you heard Europe wants to adopt our schedule , i guess our American league isn't cutting it out huh ? well i know it isn't great but greatness take time 17 years is pretty good for a league growth and passion to incorporate right now . Well Luis nice talking to you see you in the next anti USMNT bashing newsletter , and praise to Mexico.

I have to pick one? Because you say so?? I have friends that go for 2 countries. Lots of them. Fact is I don't care who my or your friends go for. I don't turn my back. I actually set my eyes on what needs to be done to improve our system. I look to my other #1 for answers that are clearly there. Let me sag this a little slower so you understand. If Mexico has a better technical and skilled style than USA then I would pick Mexico. If its USA then that's who I pick. I hate the English style or bunkering ugly lets boot it down the field and hope for the best style USA has been laying because I tronglybbeleive we have a much better pool of players that can play the technical skilled soccer that people actually want to watch. I love USA but I hate the style of play. I love Mexico and their style of play. Comprende? Ugly is ugly no matter how much you love something. Beauty is skin deep but ugly is to the bone. If USA continues to play ugly I will continue to say it and question our scouting and development. There are many things that have been questioned and even protested in USA and it has certainly made it a better country. That's what a REAL American does.

it seems I have to go slower i.... said.... its... okay.... Luis.... you... can... do... whatever.... you... want... pick... whoever... you... want but the inevitable day will come when the USA is playing beautiful soccer then what ? Now a real American will do something about it instead of complaining, Wuey !!! sounds to me you are a hurt individual who i blaming someone in this country for his setbacks, reparaciones Luis ? now what pool you want to see? how about you apply for the USMNT head coach position? now the USA played against jamaica we outscored them we outplayed them, Mexico does the same thing and nothing from you say something about it? not Mexico is Barcelona and jamaica is Chelsea that i not criticism at all NO MAMES LUIS!!!!

Then that day I will be the happiest USA fan in the world. I am doind something about it, Puto!! I run a small club and am doing my best. I am not hurt. I am just someone that wants better things for his players and the USMNT and have seen too many politics plague our scouting system. I have seen too many tecnical players overlooked for "better athletes". It's time to evolve. I am happy because I have great players as my own son and daughter. USA lost to Jamaica, Batman. Barcelona and Chelsea were examples of playing styles. Nothing more but take what you will. Show more pride in your heritage Batboy. You can still be the USA's top fan. It is not a law to not root fot both. Mexico won Gold with all Mexican League players. No seas Pendejo!!
