With American players now involved in high-stakes matches abroad, the news has taken on greater significance — as promotion, relegation, and European qualification are on the line. 

Among the many involved, Haji Wright and Coventry qualified for the promotion playoffs while Aidan Morris and Middlesborough did not. Erik Palmer-Brown and Panathinaikos will head to Champions League qualifiers next year while Joe Scally and Borussia Monchengladbach have stumbled down the stretch.

 Ligue 1: Balogun gets needed goal

If ever there was an American player who needed a goal this weekend, it was Folarin Balogun for AS Monaco. In October he suffered a shoulder injury that he reinjured in December. This sidelined him for most of the season. Meanwhile, Monaco acquired Danish forward Mika Biereth, who scored 13 goals in his first 14 games for Monaco to keep Balogun on the bench.
