Just a few days after publicly thanking star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic for salvaging a win that many felt his team did not deserve, Paris Saint-Germain coach CarloAncelotti insisted the club is not overly dependent on him.
“I don’t think we are dependent on Zlatan,” the Italian said. “We brought him here because he has a strong personality, anda lot of qualities. He scores a lot of goals. Every time he scores, it’s good for him and for the team. I think the team also works hard for him in order to put him in the best position to score. It’sas simple as that.”
Since joining the Parisian club from AC Milan this summer, Ibrahimovic has scored 10 of the club’s 16 league goals (62.5 percent) in nine league games. On Sunday, theSwede scored the only goal as PSG beat Nancy, 1-0, to go top of France’s Ligue 1, three points ahead of second-place Toulouse and Marseille. Following that game, Ancelotti said, “I thankIbrahimovic. He is a fantastic player,” Ancelotti said. “We lost here last season, so this is an important win for us.
