David Beckham is hopeful of making progress in the next two months in his bid to establish an MLS franchise in Miami. Beckham, who has three months to exercise his option to purchase an MLSfranchise at the discounted rate of $25 million, has struggled to find a stadium location. However, Miami mayor Tomas Regalado said in July that The Miami Beckham United Group, which includes“American Idol” creator Simon Fuller, was now planning to build a stadium near Marlins Park, home of the MLB’s Miami Marlins. “We are getting closer,” the formerEngland and LA Galaxy player told Sky Sports. “There is a lot of positivity around the city and I’ve always said that Miami is a place that is going to love a team. They need a team andwant a team.”
